To parquet or not to parquet...

That is the question being posed in our household today... I have to make the decision today. That's my deadline. I was thinking of mixing ceramic and parquet but that idea didn't last long! But today the guys in our new house are finalizing the flooring downstairs and they need guidance! I can't keep stalling anymore...

Anyone with parquet experience in Bahrain ... please help...

Some people tell me the weather in Bahrain isn't supportive of a parquet floor, its too humid, while others say its much better than cermaic or porcelain flooring, its healthier for the feet (huh?) or something along those lines...

What would you vote for?

Parquet or no Parquet?

Peace,

Wood floors look great but they are difficult to maintain. They scratch easy an additional worry when you little kids and if you nee dto move furniture. Plus polishing and etc. I would go with tiles, something a little darker than the one in our house. Ours is so light that you can see everything on it. Also supervise the installers, the installers messed up in some areas in our home and it showed.

SS, I had parquet in my bedroom for years and let me tell you it is the best flooring option there is.
It is cool in summer yet not freezing in winter. It is not as hard to fall on as tiles. It is easier to clean and you can throw a rug on anytime and change it with another as your whims please.
The one I had has about 7 or 9 layers. it had a scratch resistant layer, in my years of use, with moving furniture and everything, not one noticeable scratch. It had also a fire resistant layer. Below there are anti humidity and anti fungus layers. you can also extend some cables underneath or next to the wall hidden. Now you can really have a clean looking surround system.
I strongly recommend it. I live now in an apartment with tiles and carpets, I really miss parquet, especially in this cold.

You know what Redelt, my husband was trying to convince me with that same argument. He would probably give you a medal on that comment. Hehe ;D
I'm now in confusion mode again! Lets see if the prices will rule!
Thanks everyone :p
I have now officially extended my welcome as to making an adult decision about this. I'll keep you all posted...
