The Sands of Bahrain

I have been trying to get people to volunteer to clean up a beach near the Marina Club.

So far, its my family, thinkpink, tito and I. Thanks guys for participating. However, we still need to get together, discuss a plan of some sort, get the things we might need, like garabage bags maybe, a few buckets, shovels or something to the effect. We also need to agree on a date, I suggested next weekend, Friday the 6th of April.

Its not that bad this beach but its got these annoying rocks that make it impossible for anyone, especially kids to wade into the sea. Plus of course all the wrappers, bottles, and plastic strewn all over the area. But I am asuming this should not take us 2 to 3 hours. Anyone is welcome to bring their children, I'm bringing mine, to teach them the values and the satisfaction of community work and volunteering.

Anyone willing to pitch in would be most welcome. If you would like to volunteer, or propose a new timing, or send your contact details, please email me at soulsearch78@gmail.com

Peace,

SoulSearch

Am volunteering to bring gorgeous garbage bags and do a 'before & after' look with my cam and send the pics off the Green Peace in the Middle East :)

Hey SS, gr8 project! thanks for bringing it up and heading it. Wish I was here to help. Recruit my sister, she doesn't read blogs so she is unaware of your efforts. Also talk to mum or Nina, they can announce it at the jam3eeyat and recruit you some volunteers.

Keep up the great work!

Quick Question: where exactly is this beach SoulSearch? You mentioned earlier near the Marina Club..

i was down there tonight and i'm not quite sure if i was at the right beach, my sense of directions is a nightmare, but is this the beach past the museum?

Via the link below, pics from the beach i drove to, unsure if its the same beach, if it is, then those are some mighty big rocks that need moving:

Thanks guys for your response, the list is growing slowly but surely and I think we're going to have a blast!
Thinkpink, you are hilarious, no that's not the right beach, the beach in question is the one beyond the grass in the Marina walkway. If you've been to the Coral Beach Club, the beach is the one on the right, and its not that big of a distance.

So I hope to see you all there, thanks amal, GOS, and I will call your sis,

Peace,
SoulSearch

SoulSearch, if I'm ever in Bahrain long enough to pry myself away from my family, you can count me in... Bahrain's beaches need a makeover and I'm in xx

Thanks SoulSearch :P

i think i found the beach you're talking about, it's near the Bahrain Sailing Club, right next to the Coral Beach, an out-stretch away. i went there an hour ago and surprisingly no traffic and it was low tide. Hopefully this is the right beach i've been to, today, the pics following shortly would tell.

For one who hasn't got a sense of directions, locating places at night isn't such a great idea :)

So it's on Friday (06/04/07) but at what time? *smiles*

thinkpink, thanks for your enthusiasm, we were thinking of doing it at 9 am as Friday is usually family day and prayer day, so we could be finished by 11 am, enough time to get ready for lunch...

Hope to see you all there...
Spread the word on your blogs fellow bloggers. Thanks a million to everyone who cares about mother nature!!

Peace,
SoulSearch

Nice to see this all shaping together :)

i've got a concern and as much as i love when it rains, i realize not everyone shares my happiness, so if it rains on Friday morning, do we go ahead and let ourselves loose and celebrate the showers and continue the cleanup or does everyone scram and re-schedule for another day?

Just concerned as i know there may be kids coming to help out and am sure their parents aren't going to like dealing with runny noses, kids having to miss out on school and the like ;)

dear thinkpink, appreciate your concern and no I really can't deal with runny noses anymore. If it does rain I may have to scram because of the kids, but I doubt we can be that lucky for the rain to drag for 4 days.

Thanks again for caring!

I think this is amazing, and badly needed. I'm outside Bahrain for a few months, but I'll definitely forward to all my friends.

Thanks soulsearch on behalf of our Bahraini environment! Please keep it up.
